  The GSM Career Centre

The GSM Career Centre is a dedicated walk-in career advice centre exclusive to GSM students. It is a multi-functional facility with a mission to provide our students with help to secure a job after graduation as either the first step in their career, or a change of career direction after qualifying. Below are the different functions that the Career Centre provides for GSM students:

  • Careers Advice
One-to-one appointments with the Career Centre staff covering CV preparation, completing job application forms, interview technique and job search skills.

  • Placements
This function covers company visits, consulting the employer database and screening and matching graduates to actual jobs.

  • Events
This function involves inviting companies and organisations seeking to recruit graduates to present seminars at GSM to groups of students who may be interested in developing their career with them.

  • International Students
Under the terms of the International Graduates Scheme international students holding a student visa may now be eligible to work for one year in the UK after graduating with an undergraduate or post graduate degree. The Career Centre staff will assist those international students with the administrative procedures on this matter. Moreover, the staff will seek to find suitable job placements for international students on the Scheme. Further details on this new development can be found by online searching 'working in the UK', or more specifically logon to: http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/...

  • Volunteering work experience with the British Red Cross
The British Red Cross offers a wide range of volunteering opportunities which can be a valuable work experience to students. Opportunities are available in the various departments across the organization in London and other local branches. Visit the Red Cross website for further details (http://www.redcross.org.uk/volunteer).

In addition to the above students, subject to their permission, will be tracked for one year as they progress in their new careers and additional help provided if necessary.
