GSM achieves 'Highly Trusted Sponsor' status

Greenwich School of Management (GSM) has just been awarded Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS) status by the UK Border Agency (UKBA). This is a new category of licence that recognises those colleges and universities who are achieving the highest level of compliance required by the UKBA for administering the Tier 4 part of the UKBA Points Based System, i.e. international student recruitment.

The achievement of this accolade is a tribute to the hard work of the GSM UKBA Compliance Team headed-up by Ayesha Awan the Tier 4 Compliance Manager with David Berry, the Vice-Principal and Tier 4 Authorising Officer and Scott Holden the Tier 4 Administrative Officer.

For us all, students and staff alike, this award represents much more than the immediate visa benefits for our students. It is an achievement that we are proud of for its own sake, for it is a measure of our quality and commitment to our international student recruitment.

There are a number of benefits awarded to sponsors who have achieved HTS status these include

  • The ability to accept students on to courses at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 3 such as the GSM Degree Foundation Programme and Diploma in Travel & Tourism Management.
  • The ability to allow students whose leave to remain is associated with another Institution to begin their studies at GSM (at their own risk) whilst their application for their new student visa is being considered by the UKBA.
  • The provision, by the UKBA, of a sponsor account manager who will act as a single point of contact for GSM and who will be able to provide assistance with Points Based System queries in the UK.

Well done the GSM UKBA Compliance Team and all the other GSM staff that contributed to our success and well done to our international students whose individual conformity to the Points Based System also contributed.

Thank you all
