Greenwich School of Management and The University of Plymouth launch The Meridian Institute for Strategic LeadershipGSM is proud to announce the launch of a new and innovative institute which will bring together senior academics and organisational leaders seeking the enhancement of strategic leadership. The Meridian Institute for Strategic Leadership (MISL) is a new organisation developed in response to the belief that there is a noticeable absence of strategic leaders who are able to address the new and unpredictable environment that organisations now find themselves in. The Institute will build on the international leadership expertise of GSM, The University of Plymouth and their network of senior academics and established professionals who all seek excellence in the field of Strategic Leadership.
This new partnership between GSM and Plymouth will be headed by Brian Buckley of GSM and Prof. John Potter of Plymouth Business School. Brian who currently runs the executive programmes at GSM is keen to make this new venture a resounding success believing that the current global economic crisis has as much to do with a lack of strategic leadership within global financial organisations than the business models on which their products were based. "It has been argued that organisations appreciate the importance of strategic planning but fail to understand its interrelationship with Strategic Leadership in its wider sense. Strategic planning without strategic leadership will not create the foundations for a sustainable model of organisational success." In an interview at GSM Prof. John Potter the Director of MISL explained - "I am very pleased to be part of the Meridian Institute which I believe will play an important role in the development of Strategic Leadership as a catalyst for sustainable and successful organisations. Recent events have shown that organisations which rely on traditional models without considering the importance of strategic leadership are exposing themselves to the dangers of an unpredictable future." The incorporation of MISL in partnership with The University of Plymouth is an exciting addition to GSM's current portfolio of educational offerings and is a natural fit to our overall mission of organisational development through visionary leadership. Dr William Hunt, the Principal at GSM who has played a key role in the development of MISL states - "The Greenwich and Plymouth partnership is already a resounding success. I am confident that the Institute will build upon this success by drawing from our network of leading experts who will deliver a series of leadership development programmes designed to attract senior decision makers from a diverse range of organisational backgrounds." MISL will hold its official launch on the 30th September with its inaugural Seminar on Reputation Risk.
