The demands of employers in the Travel and Tourism Industry are constantly changing. Greenwich School of Management are keen to provide their successful students with the best possible preparation when applying for jobs and ultimately starting a career in the industry.

As well as the important core subjects of Airline Studies and Travel Studies included in the Diploma in Airline and Travel Studies, this Advanced Diploma incorporates further specialised subject areas including Event Organisation, Airline and Leisure Computerised systems and Airport Operations. The programme comprises three parts:



Students who have successfully completed the Diploma in Airline and Travel Studies are only required to enrol for part three.

Part One: Airline Studies

Part Two: Travel Studies

Travel Agency Procedures
All the skills required when working in a modern travel agency

Tour Operations
A varied programme of study designed to cover the essential areas of the ‘wholesale’ sector of the travel industry.

Travel Geography
Essential analysis of the major tourist destinations.


Part Three: Specialised Study

Event Organisation
Training to develop a multi-skilled approach to planning and co-ordinating events.

Computerised Travel Systems
Working in today’s travel industry involves understanding and using a variety of computer systems. This module follows on from the Galileo GDS and covers the other major scheduled Airline systems of Sabre, Worldspan and Amadeus. In addition, students study Viewdata Holiday Reservations and learn the processes of Inclusive Package Holiday Bookings.

Airport Customer Service
Customer Service and practical skills required when working for an Airline or ground support organisations in an airport environment.

How to join a Programme

Complete the application form, indicating the programme you wish to follow, the date you wish to commence the programme, and whether you wish to study full-time, Evenings, or Saturday Mornings.

Generally, Programmes commence February, June and October each year.

The completed application form should be returned to the Tourism Department, together with the registration fee (or deposit for part-time programmes), 3 passport-size photographs and copies of your qualifications (if applicable).

UCAS

For details of applying for the BSc programme through UCAS, please refer to the separate BSc prospectus.

Registration and Enrolment

If you are not qualified for the programme of your choice, the School may suggest an alternative programme that suits your needs and qualifications.

Your acceptance letter from the School will inform you of the date on which you should enrol and the duration and cost of the programme.

You should arrive at Greenwich School of Management on the date specified in your acceptance letter.

You will be expected to make your first fee payment on enrolment, or produce evidence of funding.

Accommodation

If you require accommodation throughout the programme, the Accommodation Officer will arrange this on enrolment.

Further Information

Tuition fees are payable in advance.

Tuition fees are non-refundable.

The Registration fee is refundable should the School be unable to accept you.

Overseas students are reminded that they must comply with Home Office regulations on immigration, particularly with respect to attendance. A medical certificate must support absences due to illness.

Programme details are correct at the time of going to press, but are subject to alteration. Programmes will only take place if justified by demand.

All fees are inclusive of government taxes. Students must adhere to the Greenwich School of Management regulations relating to their programme, a copy of which will be provided on enrolment.

The School reserves the right to refuse to accept or enrol any student.
