Degree Foundation Programme

  

The Degree Foundation Programme is a National Qualification Framework (NQF) level three qualification and on successful completion of this programme students will be eligible to progress to the School’s bachelor degree programmes. By engaging with the programme, students will develop the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the specific subject areas taught and will have enhanced academic and language skills at an appropriate level for higher studies. Students will develop the ability to apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate for university level studies. Thus, the main aims of the programme are to:

  • Develop the appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of the specified subject areas;
  • Increase the self- awareness and self confidence of the students;
  • Facilitate an awareness of and appreciation for the need to reflect on academic development and career planning;
  • Develop confidence and fluency in the use of English;
  • Provide a forum for the understanding of the functions of computers and assist students to develop competence in using these;
  • Offer the students a comprehensive introduction to English Legal systems and processes
  • Enable the students to understand and present numerical data and advanced appropriate mathematical skills and knowledge
  • Facilitate the development of appropriate knowledge pertaining to the principles of management

Mode of attendance
One academic year, full-time

Starting Dates
Enrolment dates are in February, June and October each year.

Admission Requirements
Applicants for the programme will be expected to possess five GCSEs or equivalent academic or professional qualifications and a good command of written and spoken English. Those without these qualifications will be considered on their merits.

Progression
